A Memorable Visit to Feyenoord

Yesterday, I had the great pleasure and honor of visiting Feyenoord Football Club in Rotterdam, Netherlands following a warm invitation from the Club’s President, Toon van Bodegom. It was a a meaningful tour, one that allowed me to connect with a historic club that continues to set standards in professionalism and youth development.

I had the chance to tour their facilities and hold a productive meeting with President van Bodegom. We exchanged ideas about club transformation, leadership, and how football institutions can remain true to their identity while still innovating and growing. The passion and purpose that guide Feyenoord are truly impressive.

This visit held a special connection for me on a personal level. Feyenoord is closely linked to my favorite club, Liverpool FC. It’s the team that Arne Slot managed before taking up the reins at Anfield, and it’s also the club that helped shape talents like Dirk Kuyt, who went on to become a Liverpool legend. Not to forget Robin van Persie and the iconic Johan Cruyff, whose stories are rooted in this club’s legacy.

And then there's Rotterdam itself , a city with resemblance to Liverpool. A port city with deep industrial roots, and a passionate football culture. It’s the kind of city where football is more than a sport but it's part of daily life, part of identity.

This visit was a reminder that football connects us across borders. I look forward to continue with this relationship and finding ways for clubs across continents to collaborate, share knowledge, and grow stronger together.
